What the heckin heck is TwistedMexi's Terrain Pack? Are you doing me a bamboozle, friend?

So terrain tools obviously don't exist in Sims 4, and they probably won't. I want to get this out of the way and say this is not a full terrain tool. Well then what is it you might ask? It's a (very large) set of terrain objects that with some skillful building can give you the aesthetic of terrain modification.

I know we'd all rather have functional build tools but unfortunately I've become very familiar with the engine's terrain setup and while it's not impossible, the engine is not currently setup with terrain modification in mind at all - so I would be very surprised if Terrain Tools ever come to the Sims 4. So my aim is to give us the next best thing, the illusion of terrain tools. Now that that's out of the way..

The Description

I'm sure I'm not the only one out there who has a house set on uneven terrain. I felt that even if we couldn't have full fledged terrain tools, we deserved something to break up the dull 2D nature of the Sims 4 worlds. This object pack offers near infinite combinations for terrain, albeit with a bit of creativity. I hope you guys enjoy the pack as much as I enjoyed making it.

Pics right? You want pics. Use these for reference.

Here's one
Here's another
Some Trickery with basements
Some contrast
One more, contrast and a simple example of basement cleverness

So Whats What?

This pack includes several types of objects with various sizes of each. In total there are a whopping 72 objects. They can all be found under Outdoor Plants -> Shrubs.

Here's what they are and what they do.

Mounds

These are straight-edged mounds that can be used to easily match with other objects edges.

Rounded Mounds

These have uneven edges for a more natural transition from actual terrain

Wallside Mounds

These are mounds that have been cut so that you can place them against walls

Transitional Mounds

These mounds are spherical which makes them a decent option for varying the edges of pits.

Pits

These offer dips in the terrain for a little variety. Because they must remove sections of the terrain, they're only offered in a smooth edge variety.

Shallow Pits

Self explanatory, but these are just like pits but less deep.

Wallside Pits

Possibly my favorite aspect of this pack, these are pits that can go up again walls (on the next floor down) to offer features such as basement windows.

WallCover Mounds

These become useful when you're using open roofed basements to make a more unique pit or retaining wall feature. Place them on the edge of the basement tops to cover any sides of the wall that your mounds can't reach.

  1. To get a good aesthetic, you're going to want to make use of the alt key when placing objects, this will let you get 360 degrees of rotation and freely move the object into the perfect spot.

  2. Intersect objects! All terrain objects have a footprint of one block so they can easily be placed in each other and on the edges of your property. This increases your options immensely.

  3. Scale your objects! Pits can't be scaled because the hole in the terrain doesn't save to scale, but all mounds can resized for a wide variety of options.

  4. Swatches! There's several terrain textures in the sims 4 worlds, so be sure to try a few different swatches to find which one works best for your lot. Each object has several shades of grass and also desert sands, beach sands, gravel, and dirt.

  5. You'll most likely want to activate 'bb.MoveObjects On' as you'll need it to place some types of terrain and it allows you more freedom. If you want to have MoveObjects always on, you can download my mod to keep it activated all the time. Also if you move a wall with moveobjects off, it could delete your terrain objects.

  6. Sims can't walk on the terrain objects unfortunately (engine limitation), so be sure to leave paths to anything that sims may need to access.

  7. Stock outdoor decorations such as flowers and trees can absolutely intersect the terrain. Normally they'll be at ground level but use MoveObjects and then use the 0 and 9 keys, and you'll be able to elevate the objects up or down to place them on the mounds and pits.

The PP jailbreak tool is fairly easy to use and will jailbreak your iOS device (iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad) on the Mac OS X operating system in no time. If you’re on iOS 8.4, you can follow our step-by-step guide to jailbreak iOS 8.4 using the latest PP jailbreak tool. PP Jailbreak tool released to jailbreak iOS 10.2 to iOS 10 Chinese Windows users only. As well previously they released the jailbreak tool for iOS 9.2 - iOS 9.3.3 and iOS 8.0 – iOS 8.4 for mac users in collaboration with PanguTeam and PP Assistant. After downloading the PP Jailbreak tool for Mac, launch it and move it to the Applications folder. Connect your iOS device running iOS 8.4. Launch PP Jailbreak tool from the Apps folder, it should detect your iOS device. Itool for mac

F.A.Q.

Q. Where are the objects in buildbuy?

A. They're all listed under Outdoor Plants -> Shrubs.

Q. Why can't sims walk on the objects?

A. The engine doesn't have a function built in to mark objects as walkable terrain. (stairs accomplish this with a specific animation)

Q. Why do the pits have text thumbnails in the catalog?

A. As it turns out, subterranean objects don't generate previews for buildbuy.

Q. Why can't I place objects on top of the mounds or bottom of pits?

How To Open Typing Tool In Sims 4 For Mac

A. This is because while the objects offer the appearance of modified terrain, the actual terrain is still flat. BUT with MoveObjects on, you can use the 0 and 9 keys to elevate objects.

Q. HELP! I can't place pits, transitional mounds, rounded mounds, or wall cover. It says it intersects terrain or must be on floor.

A. You're probably trying to place objects with MoveObjects off. Turn it on and you'll be able to place them wherever you like.

Q. Why not actual terrain tools?

A. Unfortunately the way the engine is built, terrain is a very static element. There is no indication that it was built with terrain tools in mind, neither in the past nor in the future.

Q. How do I make an open basement?

A. Use the basement tool to place it, select the basement walls, go up a floor and select the ceiling ring to remove the roof. You can now place mounds and wall cover in it to create a freeform pit.

Q. I've outsmarted you, and there's a part I can't find in this pack that I need so desperately.

A. *Inevitable, I suppose? When a legitimate need for a new terrain type is found, I will expand this pack as necessary. Of course, please do try to accomplish what you need with the mix of objects currently in the pack before requesting new ones.

Q. Why are the prices of each object type a bit different?

A. Object catalogs are sorted by price. Considering there's a whole 72 objects in this pack, I wanted to make sure it was easy to browse, so I incremented each object type a little bit so they would appear grouped in order.

Q. How can I support you?

A. Donations are always appreciated, but I do want to say that all of my mods are provided absolutely for free. I'm on patreon as of today! If you'd like to buy me a coffee or just show some support, you can do so here. :)

Sure, sure. You can pick it up right here on my wiki!

Enjoy!
